You will have access to 24-hour care in a safe and comfortable environment with a Nurse Manager and team of registered Nurses and trained Caregivers dedicated to your wellbeing. With a choice of living options, you can stay close to your spouse or partner if your care needs are different. Assessment for rest home & hospital care

If you believe you or your loved one can no longer live at home with the current support, the first step is to apply for a needs assessment from Focus or the District Health Board. To start the process, simply visit your GP to ask for a needs assessment. A needs assessment will determine the level of care that is
required and if the care is short term or on-going.

Respite care and health recovery options

If you are caring for an older person and need a break, WAIRARAPA VILLAGE offers short term respite care. We also offer health recovery and rehabilitation. Please talk to your GP as care may be funded by your District Health Board. Alternatively it can be directly arranged with us and privately funded.

Can I apply for financial help?

Yes, if you are 65 or over and your ‘support needs assessment’ confirms that you may be eligible for government financial assistance. Work and Income New Zealand will have all the information required and can explain what assistance is available and eligibility criteria. Please call 0800 559 009 or if you prefer, we
can assist you with this process.

Rooms are well equipped for your comfort and convenience:

• Hospital bed with pressure relieving mattress
• Ensuite toilet
• 24-hour push button assistance
• Regular monitoring day and night
• Heating and a sunny aspect
• We encourage our residents to bring some of their favourite personal belongings, such as an easy chair, small coffee table and pictures to make the room feel like home.
• Each room has access to a recreational room, dining room and shared kitchen for tea/coffee making facilities, as well as the hairdressing salon.

MEALS

We provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning tea and afternoon tea. If you are unwell or wish to eat in your room, we will deliver your meal to your room.

CLEANING/LAUNDRY SERVICES

We provide all cleaning and laundry services

DOCTOR’S VISITS

We have a local doctor who visits weekly, every Tuesday and in between times for unwell residents

MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION

Managed by the Registered Nurse who liaises with your GP and the pharmacy

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Our physiotherapist visits weekly
